Many factors have contributed to the success of filming in Santa Clarita including the continuation of the California Film and Television Tax Credit Program and the City’s own Film Incentive Program.
Both programs were implemented in 2009 and are aimed at retaining and increasing feature and television production.
Nearly one quarter of all state-approved projects have filmed on location in Santa Clarita and 34 percent of the approved television projects have based in the City.
More than 45 productions have benefited from the City’s incentives, including locally based shows, productions that film four or more times in a year, and those that qualify for the state’s incentive program.
On location filming days from these productions alone has resulted in more than $36 million in economic benefit to the local economy since 2009.
Santa Clarita also sees a substantial economic benefit from filming that takes place on certified sound stages which does not require a film permit and is not included in the reported numbers.
