Santa Clarita Blue Heat

Saturday’s UWS National Championship, as most championships do, will come down to who can make the tough stops on defense.

Santa Clarita (2nd) and New Jersey (1st) are the top two scoring teams in the league this season, with the Heat leaders in first half goals (16) and Copa F.C. leaders in second half finishes (17).

Kelsey Gudgeon and the Co. will have their work cut out for them if they want to claim the United Women’s Soccer title.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers open a weekend series tonight at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Los Angeles (57-45) enters the weekend just two games back of the Giants and two games safe atop the Wild Card standings.

Tonight, Kenta Maeda (9-7, 3.45 ERA) takes the mound versus Zack Godley (3-1, 5.88 ERA).

Former Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke won’t pitch against his former team as he is on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique strain.

The offense was stifled Wednesday against the Rays, managing just one run on five hits, but the team has been better as a whole offensively in the month of July.

Justin Turner is looking to complete his best month of the season by far with a .329 batting average and .647 slugging percentage, they’ll need every bit of his offense in this series.

First pitch from Dodger Stadium is at 7:10 pm, and you can catch every inning called by the legendary Vin Scully on your hometown station, AM-1220 KHTS.
