All Six Foothill League Football Teams In Action Tonight

news_sportsThe Valencia football team, ranked second in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division preseason poll, starts its season on the road in Thousand Oaks tonight.

Saugus, the reigning Foothill League champs and the No. 4 team in the Northern Division poll, is also on the road to open its football season. The Centurions play Pasadena at Pasadena City College.

Two Foothill League teams are at home tonight, sort of. West Ranch plays Lancaster from the Golden League at Valencia High School. Hart hosts Palmdale, the No. 1 team in the CIF Southern Section Western Division, at College of the Canyons.

In other games, Canyon is at Bakersfield and Golden Valley is at Royal.

The West Ranch girls volleyball team opened with a three-game sweep over visiting Rio Mesa last night. Senior Allison Summers had 11 kills and 10 digs for Valencia.

Santa Clarita Christian won its season opener over Hillcrest Christian. Logan Hermanson had five kills and four aces for Santa Clarita Christian in a three-game sweep.

The Hart girls golf team beat West Ranch by 44 shots yesterday. Kendall Dusenberry shot a team-best 30. Diane Kim was tops on West Ranch with a 40.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
