The Valencia football team, ranked second in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division preseason poll, starts its season on the road in Thousand Oaks tonight.
Saugus, the reigning Foothill League champs and the No. 4 team in the Northern Division poll, is also on the road to open its football season. The Centurions play Pasadena at Pasadena City College.Two Foothill League teams are at home tonight, sort of. West Ranch plays Lancaster from the Golden League at Valencia High School. Hart hosts Palmdale, the No. 1 team in the CIF Southern Section Western Division, at College of the Canyons.
In other games, Canyon is at Bakersfield and Golden Valley is at Royal.
The West Ranch girls volleyball team opened with a three-game sweep over visiting Rio Mesa last night. Senior Allison Summers had 11 kills and 10 digs for Valencia.
Santa Clarita Christian won its season opener over Hillcrest Christian. Logan Hermanson had five kills and four aces for Santa Clarita Christian in a three-game sweep.
The Hart girls golf team beat West Ranch by 44 shots yesterday. Kendall Dusenberry shot a team-best 30. Diane Kim was tops on West Ranch with a 40.
