Bauer Earns Spot On USA National Baseball Team

sportshartHart High graduate Trevor Bauer, a freshman pitcher at UCLA, has earned a spot on the USA National baseball team.

He will join UCLA teammate Gerrit Cole, another freshman pitcher, on the 22-man collegiate roster.

Bauer was 9-3 with a team-best 2.99 ERA and 92 strikeouts for the Bruins last season.

The Premier Soccer Santa Clarita Valley Rooks have a pair of home games this weekend at Canyon High School.

The first game is Saturday against the Claremont Stars, the fifth-place team in the Pacific South Division of the Women’s Premier Soccer League. Claremont lost to the Ajax American Women team, 5-0, last weekend.

The second game is Sunday against the San Diego Sea Lions, the third-place team in the Pacific South Division. San Diego lost its last game to the L.A. Rampage, 5-0.

The Rooks are in last place in the Pacific South Division and are winless in eight games.

Both games are scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
