Canyon Boys Basketball Team Looks To Stay Undefeated In Foothill League

sportscanyonThe Canyon boys basketball team will look to stay undefeated in Foothill League against Valencia tonight. Canyon is on top of the league standings with a 3-0 record.

In other boys basketball games, Hart is at Saugus and West Ranch is at Golden Valley.

 

On the girls side, Canyon and West Ranch are tied atop the Foothill League standings with 3-0 records. Canyon hosts Valencia and West Ranch is home against Golden Valley. Hart is at Saugus.

The Lakers blew a golden opportunity to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers without one of their star players. The Lakers lost to the Cavaliers, 93-87, despite 31 points from Kobe Bryant. The Cavaliers were playing without guard Mo Williams, but it didn’t slow down the offense. LeBron James scored 37 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Cavaliers to the season sweep of the Lakers.

The Lakers did get some good news in Cleveland. Bryant was voted as a starter for the Western Conference in the NBA All-Star game. He also became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 25,000 points in his career. The Lakers will be in New York for a game against the Knicks tonight.

The Clippers lost to the Denver Nuggets, 105-85. Craig Smith scored a team-high 21 points for the Clippers. Carmelo Anthony had his way with the Clippers, scoring 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

In college basketball, UCLA’s Mustafa Abdul-Hamid hit a jumper at the top of the key as time expired to give his team a 62-61 win over Washington.

The USC men’s basketball team blew a 15-point lead and lost to Washington State, 67-60. Marcus Johnson scored a team-high 16 points for USC.

In hockey, the Kings beat the Buffalo Sabres, 4-3, in a shootout. Ryan Smyth tied the game at 3-3 in the third period and won the shootout, 2-1. Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown scored for the Kings in the shooutout.
