Tomorrow it’s the state track & field championships in Sacramento.  That’s where Shannon Murakami, Katie Dunn and Heather Snyder from Saugus, and Canyon’s Trevor Habberstad will be competing for state titles.  And of course on Saturday, beginning at 6:00 at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine, the Valencia Vikings will face the Hart Indians for the CIF Southern Section D1 softball championship.

Former Hart pitcher Jamie Shields, now in the major leagues with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, figured out how to get a win last night.  You see, Shields has been pitching brilliantly, going at least seven innings in his last four starts, and turning it over to the bullpen in each of his first 10 outings with a lead or the score tied, only to watch the bullpen blow it.  So Shields pitched a complete game Wednesday night in a 5-3 win over Detroit to move him to 4-0 on the season.

The Ducks win game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals 1-0 and now lead the best-of-seven series with Ottawa 2 games to none.

The Angels win 8-6 over Seattle
