CIF Soccer, Basketball Playoffs Begin This Week

sportslocalThe CIF Southern Section playoffs in soccer begin today with the Saugus boys in the wild-card round and the Saugus girls preparing for a chance to repeat as Division 2 champions.

The Saugus girls soccer team, the reigning CIF Southern Section Division 2 champions, will open the 2010 playoffs on Friday. Saugus, the Foothill League champs, await the winner of the Arcadia-Palmdale wild-card game.

 

The Hart girls, second place in the Foothill League, are home in the first round of the Division 2 soccer playoffs and will play Glendora, the second-place team from the Sierra League.

Valencia, the third-place team from the Foothill League, opens the Division 2 playoffs on the road against Walnut, the second-place team from San Antonio League.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls, third place in the Heritage League, open the Division 6 playoffs against Woodcrest Christian, the champions of the Big Sky League.

The wild-card rounds of the boys Divison 3 soccer playoffs begin today with Saugus, the third-place team from the Foothill League, at home to play Santa Ynez.
The Canyon boys, the first-place team from the Foothill League, await the winner of the Anaheim-Redlands East Valley wild-card game.
The Valencia boys soccer team, second place in the Foothill League, opens the Division 3 playoffs on the road against Santa Maria, the second-place team from the Los Padres League.

The Valencia boys basketball team, co-champions of the Foothill League, are home against Highland, an at-large team from the Golden League, in the first round of the Division 1-A playoffs.
The Golden Valley boys, who won a share of the Foothill League title, host Sierra Vista, the third-place team from the Montview League, in the opening round of the Division 3A playoffs.
The Canyon boys, the third-place team from the Foothill League, get a home against in the first round of the Division 2AA playoffs. Canyon plays Vista del Lago, the third-place team from the Inland Valley League.
The Saugus and West Ranch boys teams got in the Division 2AA playoffs with at-large bids. Saugus is on the road against Cypress, the first-place team from the Empire League. West Ranch travels to Compton, the second-place team from the Moore League.
The Santa Clarita Christian boys, the third-place team from the Heritage League, open the Division 6AA playoffs at home against New Harvest Christian, the third-place team from the International League.

On the girls side, Canyon, the Foothill League champions, hosts Pioneer Valley in the first-round of the Division 2A playoffs on Thursday night.
West Ranch, the second-place team from the Foothill League, is home against Serrano, the third-place team from the Mojave River League.
The Valencia girls, the third-place team from the Foothill League, begin the Division 1A on the road against Crescenta Valley, the second-place team from the Pacific League.
