It seems no PGA Champions
Tour event at Valencia Country Club can end without a playoff and Sunday was no
Dan Forsman won the AT&T Champions Classic in a playoff
with Don Pooley. Forsman birdied the 18th hole to win his first
Champions Tour event. It was the third straight time and sixth time in nine
years that the AT&T Champions Classic ended with a playoff.
Forsman finished at 11-under par 205 for the three-day tournament. He rallied on the last day of the tournament, shooting a 6-under 66, the lowest round on Sunday. He had seven birdies, five on the back nine, and one bogey.
It might have been the last Champions Tour event at Valencia Country Club. AT&T will not return as a sponsor of the golf tournament next year and the Champions Tour has not found a replacement.
From the Champions Classic to the Hart Classic, there was a
full slate of softball games at Central Park over the
weekend. The Hart softball team won the Hart Classic Softball Tournament on
Saturday, shutting out Agoura, 3-0, in the championship game.
Destiny Rodino and Jessica Shults shared MVP honors for
Hart, a perfect 7-0 to start the season.
West Ranch lost to Agoura in the semifinals, 4-3, and then
lost the third-place game to Alemany, 5-2.

8-2, in the tournament.
The West Ranch baseball team was in the championship game of
the Easton Tournament on Saturday. But they lost to Crespi, 7-1, at Birmingham
Hart lost to El Camino Real, 7-5. Trevor Brown and Devin Rodriguez each drove in two runs. Hart plays West Torrance on Tuesday.
In NASCAR, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley won the Camping
World Series West race at Thunderhill Raceway in Texas
on Saturday night.
