Justin Lundin, a longtime assistant at the college, will take over the women's team after spending three years as an assitant under Phil Marcellin.
Marcellin was the coach of the men's and women's teams. He will remain coach of the men's team. Lundin becomes only the second women's soccer coach in school history. COC started the women's soccer program in 1998.
“Justin has been with the women’s soccer program for three years and we
are very happy to have someone who has a rapport with the team and can
hit the ground running,” said COC athletic director Chuck Lyon.
Marcellin had a 123-89-36
record as the women's team coach He won
four conference championships and made five appearances in post-season play.
He finished the 2008 men’s season with a 42-69-20 record during his six
years with the team.
“Coaching two intercollegiate teams is a big job, but especially when
both teams compete at the same time of year,” said Lyon. “Phil has done
a good job as the head coach of both teams, but with the squads
frequently competing on the same days, at the same time – and often at
different locations – the logistics became too difficult for one person
to handle. “
