COC Linebacker Justin Cudworth Leads Football Recruits

khts_sportsTen players from the College of the Canyons football team will continue their careers at four-year schools in the fall.

Linebacker Justin Cudworth leads the list of COC football players. He will be playing at Eastern Michigan in the fall.

Offensive lineman Steven Haunga is headed to Arkansas State. Fellow offensive lineman Randy Horton will play at Nevada.

It’s a light day of high school soccer in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys are home for a game against Hillcrest. The Santa Clarita Christian girls are also home against Hillcrest.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls basketball team is at home for a game against Vasquez.

The Golden Valley freshman boys soccer team lost to Valencia, 2-1. Lorenzo Gutierrez scored the lone goal for Golden Valley.

The UCLA Bruins basketball team beat USC, 64-50, behind 13 points from Malcolm Lee. UCLA has won six of its past seven games and ended a four-game losing streak to USC.

The Lakers get another tough test tonight against one of the top teams in the NBA. The Lakers are home against the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have the best record in the NBA at 40-8. The Lakers have won only once in their past three games.

The Kings beat the Edmonton Oilers, 3-1, behind two goals from Ryan Smyth.

Jack Johnson had a goal and two assists as the Kings won their first game on their 10-game road trip. The Kings have won three of their past four games.

Next up for the Kings are the Calgary Flames on Saturday night.
