The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team snapped a little two-game losing streak with a 78-62 win over Santa Monica College. Parker Dominguez came up big with 19 points and nine rebounds for COC.
The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team got 23 points from Ashley Wakefield in a 59-49 win over Santa Monica College. COC improved to 4-0 in Western State Conference play. Dominique Turner scored 15 points off the bench for COC.
The College of the Canyons ice hockey team won its sixth game in a row, 9-7, over the University of Colorado. Corey Dinwidde had two goals and two assists and Mike Crow added a goal and two assists for COC, the top-ranked team in the Pacific Region of the American College Hockey Association. Next up for COC is Fresno State on Friday.
The Saugus dance team won five first-place trophies in the 2010 Miss Dance Drill Team California competition. One of the team’s first place trophies was for Officers’ Dance, performed by Karissa Petersen, Kellie Janeski and Darla MacDonald.
The Clippers put on a rebounding clinic against the visiting Chicago Bulls in a 104-97 win. Marcus Camby pulled down a season-high 25 rebounds and Baron Davis scored 11 of his 23 points in the final four minutes of the game.
Chris Kaman had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Clippers, winners of eight of their last nine home games.
The Lakers are in Cleveland tonight for a game against the Cavaliers. The last time the two teams met, the Cavaliers beat the Lakers handily on Christmas day at Staples Center.
In hockey, the Kings are home tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. The Kings are coming off a 5-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks. The Sabres have won seven of their last 10 games, but are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Ducks. Pregame starts at 7 on AM 1220, KHTS.
