COC Men’s Basketball Team Headed To San Juan Hills Classic

khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons men’s basketball team is off to a 2-0 start and headed to the San Juan Hills Toyota Classic in Irvine this weekend.

COC beat Santa Ana College and East LA College in the Clash at the Canyons to open the season. In the game against Santa Ana, Rafael Love led COC with 18 points in a 75-54 win. Hart High grad Brad Wyche had 14 points for COC.

In the 86-72 win over East LA College, five players from COC scored in double figures. Hart High grad Roman Delgado had 11 points and four assists off the bench for COC.

In college volleyball, the College of the Canyons women are on the road for their conference finale against Glendale College.

COC has won five of their past six matches, but lost to Pierce College on Tuesday night in three games. The loss snapped COC’s five-match winning streak.

The Valencia Flyers ice hockey team took two of three games against the Arizona Red Hawks behind a pair of hat tricks from Eddie Keshishian.

Valencia grad Stephen Palmer made 36 saves in goal for the Flyers in a 3-1 win in the first game.

Keshishian recorded a hat trick in the second game, scoring all three goals for the Flyers. But the Flyers lost, 6-3.

The Flyers won the third game, 6-4, as Keshishian notched his second hat trick in as many games.

Next up for the Flyers are the San Diego Gulls at the Ice Station Valencia on Saturday night.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the Ducks, 2-1 in a shootout. Justin Williams scored the game-winner in the seventh shootout round.

The teams were tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime. It was the first shootout win of the season for the Kings.

The two teams are at it agains tonight in Anaheim. Listen to the game tonight on AM 1220, KHTS. The puck drops at 7.
