COC Men’s Basketball Team Wins Third Game In A Row

khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons men’s basketball team is officially on a roll. The Cougars won their third game in a row, 64-55, over West LA College.

Parker Dominguez had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for COC. Wesley Bartole scored 14 points.

The College of the Canyons women beat West LA, 88-47, and improved to 7-0 in Western State Conference play.

Jazzmyn Davis scored 14 points, 11 in the first half, as COC built a 47-19 lead at halftime.

The COC bench scored 40 points in the game, led by Destiny Melton, who had 13 and eight rebounds.

The College of the Canyons men’s golf team leads the Bakersfield Invitational after the first day of the two-day tournament.

COC posted a 370 as a team. Ventura is three shots back of COC.

Max Choen shot an even par 72 for COC at the Seven Oaks Country Club. Alex Macaluso is 1-over par at 73. James Holley is 2-over par.

Day two of the tournament will be played on the Rio Bravo Country Club course today.

Colton Herta, the 10-year-old son of former Indy car driver Bryan Herta, is following in his dad’s tire tread. The younger Herta is preparing for the Pro Kart South season opener in Riverside this weekend.

Colton Herta, a fifth-grader at Oak Hills Elementary School, won the Super Karts USA pro tour national championship last year and will race in Italy for a world championship in October.

The Kings are back in action after the NHL All-Star weekend. The Kings are in Minnesota for a game against the Wild tonight, the start of a 10-game road trip.

The Kings are riding a three-game winning streak, but are 5-5 in the past 10 games before the All-Star break.

The Wild beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-2, before the All-Star break.

Believe it or not, the college baseball season has started.

The Master’s College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Patten University.

The Master’s College won the first game, 11-4. Chris Talley drove in three runs and Tanner Leighton was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

The Master’s College won the second game, 2-1. Starter AJ Work allowed one run in six innings and struck out five. Leighton drove in a run in the fourth inning.

There is a full day of high school basketball and soccer on tap today.

The Valencia boys basketball team is on the road against Golden Valley. The Canyon boys are at Saugus and the West Ranch boys are at Hart in Foothill League action tonight.

The Trinity Classical Academy boys are home against West Valley Christian.

The West Ranch girls are on the road and will play at Hart. The Canyon girls travel to Saugus and the Golden Valley girls are home against Valencia.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls will play Faith Baptist at home.

The Hart boys soccer team is at home for a game against West Ranch. The Canyon boys travel to Saugus and the Valencia boys are on the road against Golden Valley.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys are home against Delphi Academy.

The Saugus girls soccer team is on the road against Canyon. The Hart girls play at West Ranch and the Golden Valley girls are at Valencia.

The Lakers will look to bounce back after losing to the Boston Celtics on Sunday. The Lakers are home for a game against the Houston Rockets tonight.

The loss to the Celtics was the second in a row for the Lakers. The Rockets beat the Lakers by 10 points in December. They also gave the Lakers all they could handle in the season opener. The Lakers narrowly won, 112-110, on a 3-pointer by Steve Blake at the buzzer.
