Caylin Hauptmann, a former COC student-athlete and current guard on the AFC Champion New England Patriots practice squad, will head to Arizona to take part in the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year.

As an NFL rookie last season Hauptmann was a member of the World Champion Seattle Seahawks team that defeated the Broncos to win Super Bowl XLVIII.

In 2014 Hauptman began the pre-season with the Seahawks but was waived prior to the team’s first game.

He subsequently signed with the Cleveland Browns in September and was later released, before being signed to the Patriots practice squad in October.

COC has now had a former player associated with the last four Super Bowls.

In 2013 COC Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Isaac Sopoaga who attended COC 2000 to 2001 played in the game as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

In 2012 New York Giants defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul who attended COC in 2007 became the first former Cougar to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

That same year former COC student-athlete Justin Tryon earned a Super Bowl ring with the Giants, but was listed on the team’s injured reserve portion of the roster.

In 2009 former COC running back J.J. Arrington who attended COC from 2001 to 2002 became the first former Cougar to play in a Super Bowl when he took the field as a member of the Arizona Cardinals.
