COC Women’s Basketball Team Improves To 6-0 In Conference

sportslocalThe College of the Canyons women’s basketball team beat Citrus College, 87-68, and ran its Western State Conference record to a perfect 6-0.

Ashley Wakefield had another big game with 28 points and 18 rebounds. Joslynn Frazier had 14 points and 18 rebounds and Ashley Mason grabbed 16 rebounds for COC.

 

The College of the Canyons men’s team lost to Citrus College, 94-76. Parker Dominguez scored 26 points and Brannon Bradley had 24 points and 10 rebounds for COC.

In high school football, three players from the Santa Clarita Valley have made commitments to military academies. Hart’s Ty Mac Arthur will play football for the Air Force Academy. Joining him will be Valencia offensive lineman Kevin Carrington who is expected to be a long snapper in college.

Nolan O’Sullivan, another offensive lineman and Carrington’s teammate at Valencia, verbally committed to play at the U.S. Naval Academy.

In high school basketball, the Santa Clarita Christian boys and girls teams are on the road against Faith Baptist today.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team is slated to play Oakwood.

The Lakers made it look easy against the Indiana Pacers, 118-96, and Andrew Bynum made a strong case to be an NBA All-Star. Bynum scored 27 points and had 12 rebounds in his team’s win. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 29 points.

The Clippers looked like a playoff team a week ago. But after a 103-87 loss to the lowly New Jersey Nets, the Clippers looked like the worst team in the league. The Nets won for only the fourth time this season and the Clippers have lost three of their last four games on the road. Chris Kaman had 24 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

In the NHL, the Kings are in Columbus for a game against the Blue Jackets. The Kings have won three games in a row. The Blue Jackets are coming off a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators. Pregame starts at 3 on AM 1220, KHTS.
