COC Women’s Soccer Team Opens With 2-1 Win Over Taft College

khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons women’s soccer team opened its season with a 2-1 win over Taft College.

Sarah Sager and Sydney Tobin scored for COC.

Next up for the Cougars is Santa Ana College on Friday.

In high school golf, the Valencia girls won their season-opening match against Dos Pueblos by 14 shots, 262-276, at the TPC at Valencia. Valencia’s Hallie Jin shot the low round of the day, a 5-over par 41.

In high school tennis, the Hart girls won convincingly, 17-1, over Lancaster. Jackie Resler and Proyfon Lohaphaisan swept their singles sets.

In baseball, the Angels clobbered the Mariners, 13-6, behind a big day at the plate from rookie Mike Trout. He hit two home runs and drove in five for the Angels.

The Texas Rangers shut out the Rays, 2-0, to maintain their 3 ½ game lead in the American League West standings over the Angels. Rangers starter Scott Feldman tossed six scoreless innings and struck out four.
