The College of the Canyons men’s golf team won its first tournament of the season in dominating fashion.
The Cougars won by 24 strokes over Reedley College in the Double Eagle Tournament in Bakersfield.
COC’s Jake Katz shot the low score in the two-day tournament. He was 1-over at 144. Teammate Luke Kristo was second at 3-over 146. Five golfers from COC finished in the top 10.
In college football, Justyn Eddins from College of the Canyons, will transfer to Arkansas State according to a report in the Daily News.
Eddins, a Hart High graduate, is a defensive end on the COC football team.
In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns, 92-86, and had their three-game winning streak snapped. The Lakers blew a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Kobe Bryant had 17 points and nine assists. Dwight Howard scored nine points and had 14 rebounds, but he left the game in the second half after aggravating his right shoulder.
Michael Beasley from the Suns scored a season-high 27 points. The Lakers lost their eighth game in a row on the road.
It was the first game of a seven-game road trip for the Lakers. They are 20-26 and will be in Minnesota to play the Timberwolves on Friday night.
In the NHL, the Kings are home for a game against the Nashville Predators tonight. The Kings are coming off a 3-2 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks.
The Kings have won two games in a row after losing their first three to start the season. The Predators have won only one game in their first six.
