The College of the Canyons women’s soccer team got a goal and an assist from Emma Wright in a 3-1 win over L.A. Valley College. Wright assisted on Michelle Mallette’s goal in the first half. Wright’s goal in the second half gave her team a 3-1 lead.

Kate Hall also scored for COC, winners of two straight Western State Conference games.

In college volleyball, the College of the Canyons women’s team lost in four games to Bakersfield College in their Western State Conference opener. COC has lost three matches in a row and dropped to 6-6 overall.

In high school golf, the West Ranch girls shot 251 at DeBell Golf Course and beat Burbank by 21 strokes. Sarah Hong shot a 1-over par 38 to pace West Ranch.

In high school tennis, the Valencia girls ran their Foothill League match winning streak to 53 with a 12-6 win over West Ranch. Emily Frazcek won all three of her sets for Valencia, a perfect 3-0 against Foothill League opponents this year.
