The show is presented entirely by student performers enrolled in the college’s advanced improvisational performance theatre class, and this will be their first performance of the spring semester, according to a COC news release. COC’s Comedians Of The Canyons Hosting Evening Of Improv

“I’ve been working with most of these students for the better part of a year and I am as excited as can be to get them in front of an audience,” said Matt Gourley, COC instructor and host of the show. “During each performance, scenes are made up on the spot using audience suggestions. There is no script and no safety net, which makes each performance both exhilarating and hilarious to watch.”

The Comedians of the Canyons performance series has “enjoyed tremendous success” the past few years, with students routinely performing “to a packed house” of comedy and improv enthusiasts, event officials said.

“These improvisational performances are terrific opportunities for our students to test the performance skills they’ve learned in the classroom,” said Paul Wickline, chair of the theatre department at COC.

The Comedians of the Canyons will perform at 8 p.m. on April 25 in Pico Canyon Hall, Room 202, located on the college’s Valencia campus. The show is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

An additional show is scheduled at 8 p.m. on May 30 in the same location.
