They can also be effective tools to search for jobs, and College of the Canyons wants to give high school and college students the tools to use social media effectively, at a workshop on Saturday, March 8.
The COC Career Technical Education Division and the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center are hosting “Job Searching with Social Media” at the University Center from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., taught by Joshua Waldman.
Waldman is the author of “Job Searching with Social Media for Dummies” and will teach attendees how to make the most of social media in a job search, such as gaining clarity about a personal brand, networking and how to look great online using LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
“Job searching can often be a stressful and discouraging experience,” said Lynn Arndt, Career Technical Education coordinator at the college. “Although this event is geared towards college and high school students, job seekers of all ages will benefit from Waldman’s insight on how to use social media to land a job interview.”
The event is free and will be held in Room 258. Admission is open to the public.
