A Look At The Second Round Of The High School CIF Playoffs By The Numbers
[view:node_ad=5]Hart will be travelling north to face the Paso Robles Bearcats, who match up better with Hart than last week's Thousand Oaks Lancers. Paso Robles is a team that by the numbers resembles Hart. They have a balanced offense with a good running game and an efficient quarterback. However, the interesting stat of the Bearcats is their point differential. Even with two losses they have outscored their opponents by more than the Hart Indians. It means that they beat their opponents by larer margins and didn't lose by much, when they did.
I give Hart the nod when it comes to the Quarterback play. The Bearcats have used three different starting QB's this season, until commiting to Tom Bernal. Bernal has great stats, which are comparable to BR Holbrook's, but he is a sophmore and in the playoffs maturity can make a big difference. So expect a close game here with two competitive teams and some great football with two balanced offenses.

The Centurions have an interesting match up this week as they host the Atascadero Greyhounds. The similarities are erie on this one. Both teams have the same amount of losses and the same league record. The regular season point differential is exactly the same. And both teams have over 3000+ yds rushing.
However the key to this game is going to come down to which group of linebackers will contain the other team's rushers. Neither team has faced a running game as potnent as their own all season, so this will be a test for both.
One factor that leans in favor of the Centurions is the poor Quarterback play of Steve Manierof Atascadero. The Greyhounds run the ball often because they are good at it, but they are also forced too, due to lack of solid passing in their offense. Both teams will look to stop the run, but the Greyhounds "Plan B" looks like their achilles heel.

The Valencia Vikings and the Newbury Park Panthers have similar point differentials. The Vikings depend on the high shoulders of Graham WIlbert night in and night out, and although Jordan Thompson is a suitable Running Back, Wilbert is the cornerstone of that team.
But the Panthers are a more balanced offense. The receiving team stats are impressive inside the numbers. They have five players with 25+ receptions all with at least one TD each, totalling 18 TDs. Their running game led by Chris Brown is effective with 22 total TDs, 19 by Brown.
Valencia and WIlbert will cut that Panther secondary with their arial attack, but the Panthers will put points on the board, perhaps the biggest question, with all their offensive weapons is "How?"
