The Hart High girls golf team, led by sisters Jamie and Amanda Corr, beat West Ranch by 43 strokes in a match at Woodley Lakes Golf Course in Van Nuys.
The Corrs each shot 1-over 38s to pace the Hart girls to a 206-249 win over their Foothill League rivals.
Hart’s Nikki Prichard shot 2-over, 39, and Brenna Carlson was 4-over at 42.
Sarah Hong and Jackie Kang led West Ranch with a pair of 8-over par, 46s.
West Ranch will be back on the course today against Burbank at De Bell. The Valencia girls golf team is also in action today against La Reina at Rustic Canyon Golf Course in Moorpark.
The College of the Canyons men’s soccer team is on the road. They play Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.
The COC men’s team won its season opener, 4-0, over Victor Valley College.
Chaffey College is 0-2, losing 1-0 to El Camino College to open its season and following with another 1-0 loss to Cypress College in its second game.
The College of the Canyons women’s soccer team will be in Northern California today for a game against DeAnza College.

The college football season begins today for the USC Trojans. The 14th-ranked Trojans travel to Hawaii. USC is undefeated against Hawaii at 6-0. In their previous three meetings, the Trojans have scored at least 61 points per game.
Hawaii is coming off a 6-7 season, fifth-place in the Western Athletic Conference, and did not go to a bowl game for the first time since 2005.
USC was 9-4 and beat Boston College in the Emerald Bowl last season. NCAA sanctions will keep USC out of the bowl picture this year.

The Dodgers faded a little farther out of wild-card contention in the National League with a 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino hit solo home runs to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.
Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw struck out 11 in six innings, but gave up both homers.
Phillies starter Roy Oswalt gave up only one hit in 6 1/3 innings and struck out six.
The Dodgers are 7 ½ games behind the Phillies for the National League wild card.
