The Dodgers are two wins away from representing the National League in the 2017 World Series, thanks to their fifth consecutive postseason victory, a 4-1 walk-off in the ninth inning.
On the anniversary of Kirk Gibson’s pinch hit homer in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series, Justin Turner provided his own clutch moment in what could become a defining moment of the 2017 MLB Postseason.
With two on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Turner sent a John Lackey pitch past the centerfield wall, ensuring a 2-0 series lead for the Dodgers as it shifts to Wrigley Field for Games 3 and 4.

The LA County native accounted for all four of the LA runs on the night, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and the game-winning homer. He tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI-single.
Dodgers pitching certainly did its part in earning the win. Rich Hill, who was eight years old when Gibson won Game 1 of the ’88 Series, pitched five innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts and just three hits. He gave way to a bullpen that went lights out, with four strikeouts and no hits. That brings the bullpen’s National League Championship Series numbers to 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball.
