The Los Angeles Dodgers came back from down 5-0 to complete a weekend sweep over the Colorado Rockies with a 12-6 victory, the club’s season-best tenth consecutive win. Santa Clarita Sports Report, June 26, 2017.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are taking flight. They’re rolling with the best winning rate for a Dodgers team in the first half of a MLB season in over fifteen years. Sunday’s come-from-behind win over the Rockies marked the club’s best winning streak since they won ten straight in August of 2013. LA is a full ten games better than they were at this point in the 2016 season.
And the young, powerful offense doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. The Dodgers trail only the Washington Nationals in the National League in most of the important offensive categories (runs scored, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS). The best part is that the offense is being carried by players well under the age of 25.

Which brings us to the historical start by 21-year-old slugger Cody Bellinger. Bellinger launched two more “Belli Bombs” (what Adrian Gonzalez is coining the young gun’s home runs) at Chavez Ravine yesterday to give him 24 in his rookie season. It’s the most home runs any player has hit in his first 60 games in Major League Baseball history. He leads the NL by a mile (next closest player has 20)
Bellinger’s power has been the needed offensive complement to reigning Rookie of the Year Corey Seager’s consistency (leading the team with a .298 batting average and .403 on-base percentage). Add in Justin Turner’s career year (slightly hampered by an injury) so far and the Dodgers offense is as formidable as it has been in recent memory.
Monday, the Dodgers open the annual four-game Freeway Series with the Angels at Dodger Stadium. The first two games will be in LA and the final two will be at the Big A in Anaheim. Rich Hill is on the mound to face the struggling Ricky Nolasco, with first pitch at 7:10. Be sure to tune in to KHTS for all the action.
