Football Players Pick Their Colleges

Three players from the Santa Clarita Valley make commitments official. 

Three area football players made the choices for college official on Wednesday, national signing day for universities across the nation. Jake Bernard from

West

Ranch

High School, Desi Rodriguez from

Saugus

High School and Shawn Johnson from College of the Canyons will be continuing their football careers at the next level, the Daily News is reporting.

Bernard, a 6-foot-5 running back, will be going to

San Diego

State

University. Rodriguez, a 6-foot quarterback, is headed to the Air Force Academy. Johnson, an offensive lineman, decided on UCLA.

There are a number of other players in the Santa Clarita Valley who have yet to make their decisions about where to go to college. Kevin Voogt, a wide receiver from

Canyon

High School , Rick Aversano, an offensive lineman from

Hart

High School and Ross Bacon, a running back from

West

Ranch

High School , are considering UCLA, according to Internet reports.

Ryan Zirbel, a running back from

Saugus

High School , is looking at

Arizona

State

University , according to reports on the Internet.
