Foothill League Track And Field Season Opens

Canyon, Golden Valley, Saugus boys and girls teams winners.

The Foothill League track and field season opened yesterday with Canyon, Golden Valley and Saugus looking strong out of the blocks.

Canyon’s Harrison Hall was a double winner in the long jump and triple jump in the boys meet against West Ranch. Canyon won 83-53.
The Canyon girls beat West Ranch by the same 83-53 score. Canyon’s Taylor Thomas won three events, the 100, the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.

The Saugus boys team beat Valencia 76-60. Daniel Swarbrick was a double winner for Saugus in the shot put and the discus. Jabari Howard won two events for Valencia, the long jump and the triple jump.

The Saugus girls beat Valencia 80-56. Ashley Kramer won two events for Saugus, the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Aly Drake set a school record for Valencia winning the 800. She also won the 400 and was on the winning 4×400 relay team. Valencia’s Jasmine Hall won three events, the high jump, long jump and 200, and was on the 4×400 relay team.

The Golden Valley boys and girls track teams beat Hart.

In high school baseball, Saugus plays Hart in a Foothill League game today. Saugus has a 2-0 record in league. Hart won the league championship last year. The game starts at 3:15 at Hart.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons beat Citrus College, 10-3.

Chris Printz, the boys basketball coach at Golden Valley High School, has resigned, The Signal is reporting. Printz guided Golden Valley to its first Foothill League championship last year.
