The Golden Valley boys basketball team won its first game of the season, 68-66, over Highland. Wade Rodriguez hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give Golden Valley the two-point win.
Rodriguez scored 28 points and made eight 3-pointers.
The Golden Valley team made 14 3-pointers in the game. James Chevioos scored 15 points and made three 3-pointers.
The Saugus boys soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against Chaminade. The Saugus boys gave up a goal on a penalty kick in stoppage time.
Brian Perez scored two goals for Saugus. His first came on a penalty kick in the first half that tied the game 1-1. His second goal came in the second half to give his team a one-goal lead.

It’s a packed day of high school basketball. The Valencia girls are in the Burroughs Tournament and play Glendale. The Canyon girls are on the road against Oak Park. The Santa Clarita Christian girls play Archer.
On the boys side, Canyon is at Notre Dame. The Trinity Classical Academy hosts Westmark and Santa Clarita Christian travels to Grace Brethren.
Two boys soccer teams are in action today. Hart is at Notre Dame and Santa Clarita Christian is playing New Roads at The Master’s College.
The Valencia Flyers ice hockey team lost two games to the Fresno Monsters over the weekend, but ended a 12-game losing streak.
The Flyers lost Fresno, 4-1 and 5-0, but ended the weekend series with a 2-2 tie. With the draw, the Flyers are still in the midst of a 13-game winless streak.
The Flyers will be in Las Vegas this weekend. They play the New Mexico Renegades today. The Flyers will also take on the El Paso Rhinos and the Tulsa Rampage in Las Vegas.
The Dodgers added another pitcher to their bullpen signing reliever Matt Guerrier to a three-year deal worth a reported $12 million.
Guerrier has spent his entire seven-year career with the Minnesota Twins. He led the American League in appearances in 2008 and 2009 and has pitched in at least 70 games in each of the past four seasons.
The Lakers cruised to a 109-94 win over the Indiana Pacers behind 31 points from Kobe Bryant. The Lakers avenged a loss to the Pacers at Staples Center last month.
Lamar Odom had 13 points and 17 rebounds for the Lakers. Andrew Bynum scored three points and had five rebounds in 18 minutes in his second game of the season.
The Kings are in St. Louis for a game against the Blues tonight.
The Kings are coming off an impressive 5-0 shutout over the Detroit Red Wings. The Blues lost to the same Red Wings, 5-2, on Wednesday night.
