The Golden Valley girls basketball team is in search of a new coach.
Daniel Veluzat resigned as the head coach of the Golden Valley girls basketball team after the first Foothill League game of the season.
He told The Signal that a “lack of respect” from the players was the reason he resigned. He was the sixth girls basketball coach in seven years at Golden Valley. Golden Valley was 10-7 under Veluzat, but lost to Valencia to open Foothill League play.
Golden Valley athletic director and football coach Robert Fisher is expected to coach the Golden Valley girls on Friday night against West Ranch.
In other high school basketball news, the Trinity boys clobbered Concordia, 75-20, in an Omega League game in Lakeview Terrace.
Spencer Klehn led Trinity with 19 points and James Brooks added 14.

In high school soccer, both the boys and girls from Santa Clarita Christian are in action today against Milken.

In the NBA, the Lakers won their first road game of the season, 90-87 in overtime, against the Utah Jazz. Kobe Bryant and his injured wrist scored 40 points. It was his second 40-point performance in a row. His two free throws in the overtime period sealed the victory for the Lakers.
The Clippers rallied late and knocked off the Miami Heat and LeBron James, 95-89 in overtime. Chris Paul had 27 points and 11 assists. Blake Griffin scored 20 points and had 12 rebounds.
In hockey, the Kings are home against the Dallas Stars tonight. The Kings are 3-3 in their past six games, but are coming off a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals on Monday night.
It was the most goals the Kings have scored in a game since Dec. 31, a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
