The Golden Valley girls tennis team beat Royal, 10-8, and won its first match of the season.
No. 1 singles player Rebecca Ho swept her sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and her sister, Rachel Ho, lost only two games, sweeping her sets, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0.
The Hart girls tennis team lost to Buckley, 11-7. Sophomore Jackie Resler won all three of her sets for Hart, which lost for the first time this season. Buckley won the CIF Southern Section Division IV girls tennis championship last season.
In high school golf, the Golden Valley girls won their fourth match of the season in impressive style. Golden Valley won by 18 strokes over Alemany and Burbank to improveto 4-0 on the season.

In high school volleyball, the Hart girls beat Agoura in five games, winning the fifth game, 16-14. Brittani Elser and Amy King each had 10 kills apiece for Hart.
In high school football, the Trinity Classical Academy football team opens its season tonight against Calvary Baptist School. The game is set to stat at 7 at Valenia High School.
The College of the Canyons women’s volleyball team lost to Irvine City College in four games. It was the first loss of the season for the COC women.
In baseball, the Angels beat the Mariners, 3-1, behind a one-hitter from starter Jerome Williams. The only hit he gave up was a solo home run to Trayvon Robinson.
The Angels gained a game on the Texas Rangers in the American League West standings. The Rangers lost to the Rays, 5-4 in 10 innings and have a 2 ½ game lead in the American League West standings.
