Lightning storms, clutch defensive plays and blowouts highlighted a weekend of high school football that saw every team in the Foothill League win.
The Golden Valley football team won its first game of the season, 17-10, over Channel Islands. The Grizzlies defense put up a goalline stand in the fourth quarter to beat Channel Islands and snap a seven-game losing streak.
Golden Valley receiver Isa Bey caught the game-winning touchdown in the third quarter. Bey also had two interceptions. Running back Earl Johnson scored a touchdown in the second quarter to give the Grizzlies a 10-7 lead at halftime.

Valencia also won its first football game of the season, 17-0, over Palmdale. Malik Townsend caught a 54-yard touchdown pass and Ryan Gorman scored on a short run in the first half for Valencia.
The Canyon football team stayed undefeated with a convincing, 52-28, win over Camarillo. Canyon receiver Coley Apsay caught eight passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
Camarillo receiver Jake Maulhardt set a state record with 28 catches. He gained 320 receiving yards and scored three touchdowns.
The Saugus football team erased a 19-point deficit and beat Knight, 43-32, scoring all of its points in the second half.
Down 19-0 at halftime, Saugus mounted a crushing comeback led by quarterback Jared Carbajal. He scored three touchdowns and rushed for 179 yards. Running back Tyler Watt also scored three times and gained 175 yards on the ground.
The West Ranch football team improved to 4-0 with a 28-25 win over Silverado. West Ranch running back Jeff Coprich scored two touchdowns, one on a 24-yard run. He scored the first touchdown for West Ranch while playing defense, recovering a fumble in the end zone.
The Hart football team beat Arroyo, 42-17. Indians running back Dylan Edwards scored two touchdowns and gained 91 yards on the ground.
The Trinity football team beat North County Christian, 64-8, behind a three-touchdown game from Dakota Prochnow. He rushed for two touchdowns, returned a kickoff for a touchdown and passed for a fourth touchdown.
The Santa Clarita Christian football team lost to Windward, 40-26. Quarterback Connor Harvery threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns, plus ran in a touchdown, for Santa Clarita Christian.
The College of the Canyons football team clobbered East LA College, 42-17, using a trio of quarterbacks in the win. Starter Chris Rini passed for 144 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on a 7-yard run in the second quarter.
In hockey, the Kings lost to the Ducks, 3-1, in a preseason game at Staples Center. Andrei Loktionov scored the lone goal for the Kings in the third period.
