Hart 10-and-under Gold Softball Team Wins State Championship

The Hart 10-and-under Gold softball team won a state championship and is moving on to the Western Nationals in Arizona.

The Hart girls beat Charter Oak, 4-2, in the championship game to win the state title in Lancaster. Hart was 7-1 in the tournament and had to advance through the consolation bracket to reach the championship round.

Hart lost to Charter Oak in the semifinal round, but rebounded for a 7-6 win over Rancho Trabuco and set up a rematch against Charter Oak.

Hart had to win two games against Charter Oak to take the championship. The Hart girls won the first game 6-3.

They were down 2-0 in the championship game, but rallied for four runs to win the title.

Emma Montoya, Emma Jacobs, Juliette Owen, Emma Bramson, Austen Hermanson, Aubrey McKessy, Aly Kaneshiro, Libbie McMahan, Gracie Keene, McKenna Gibson, Madison Mendez and Dallas Andrews are on the Hart 10U Gold softball team.

The Hart girls advanced to the Western Nationals in Peoria, Ariz. The tournament starts on Aug. 1.

In baseball, the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies, 6-1, and have a five-game winning streak.

The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-3, and maintained their 1 ½ game lead over the Dodgers in the National League West standings.

Mark Ellis was 3-for-4 and drove in four runs for the Dodgers against the Rockies.

Yasiel Puig went 2-for-4 and raised his batting average to .397. Hanley Ramirez was 0-for-2 and his batting average dropped to .402.

The Dodgers and the Rockies continue their series tonight at Dodger Stadium.
