The Hart and Canyon girls soccer teams will play in the championship game of the Hart tournament today.
Hart advanced to the championship game after recording a pair of shutouts on Tuesday. Hart beat Louisville, 4-0, and Quartz Hill, 2-0. Katie Trevino and Kayla Kret scored a goal in each of the games. Canyon shut out Chaminade, 1-0, to reach the Hart tournament final.
In boys soccer, Saugus will face Knight in the championship game of the Hart Tournament. Saugus beat Hart, 3-2, to reach the tournament final.
Manny Padron scored the game-winner after Saugus erased a two-goal deficit. Chris Trejo scored two goals for Saugus.
Saugus and Valencia played to a scoreless tie earlier in the day.
The Canyon boys shut out Flintridge Prep, 5-0, in the La Canada Tournament. Mohammed Roknipour scored three goals and had an assist for Canyon. Canyon will play La Canada in the tournament final tonight.
In high school basketball, the Canyon girls beat Arcadia, 67-39, in the La Canada tournament. Brooke LeMar scored 12 points and surpassed the 1000-point mark in her career at Canyon. Next up for Canyon in the tournament is Serra tonight.
The Saugus girls lost to Marlborough, 53-34, in the Harvard-Westlake Tournament in Beverly Hills. Kaylynn Martin scored a team-high nine points for Saugus.
In college football, the UCLA Bruins rallied in the second half to beat Temple, 30-21, in the EagleBank Bowl in Washington, D.C. UCLA scored 23 unanswered points in the second half, capped by a go-ahead touchdown off an interception by Akeem Ayers in the fourth quarter.
UCLA finished with a winning record for the first time since 2006.
