Hart Baseball Team Sets School Record With 14 Stolen Bases

sportshartThe Hart baseball team stole a school record 14 bases in a 13-3 win over Yorba Linda in the OC Nissan Tournament.

Daniel Dietz reached base four times and stole four bases for Hart. Freshman Luke Persico was 3-for-3 and scored three runs.

The game was called after five innings after Hart built a 10-run lead.

The Canyon baseball team beat Cajon, 4-2, in the Beach Pit Classic. Canyon scored two runs in the fifth inning and stopped a rally by Cajon in the bottom of the seventh. Cajon scored a run in the bottom of the seventh, and cut Canyon’s lead in half, but that was as close as Cajon got.

Valencia lost to Lakewood, 6-5, in the Anaheim Lion’s tournament. Down 6-4 in the seventh inning, Valencia rallied for a run, but their comeback came up a little short.

The Master’s College baseball team scored four runs in the sixth inning and beat Westmont, 5-3. Jared Otto hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and was 3-for-4. Price Parker drove in two runs for The Master’s College.

The Clippers lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, 93-85. Steve Blake, a former Trail Blazer who was in the trade for Marcus Camby, scored a team-high 14 points for the Clippers.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored a game-high 27 points for the Blazers. The Clippers lost for the sixth time in a row.

The Dodgers are off to an 0-2 start to the 2010 baseball season. They lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3, in 10 innings. Garrett Jones hit another home run, this time a three-run shot in the first inning for the Pirates.

Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw walked six and struck out four in 4 2/3 innings. The Pirates won the game on an RBI single by Ronny Cedeno in the 10th inning.

The Dodgers finish their series with the Pirates today. It will be Chad Billingsley on the mound for the Dodgers against Paul Malholm for the Pirates.

First pitch is at 9:30 this morning on AM 1220, KHTS.

In hockey, the Kings host the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at Staples Center. The Kings are in seventh place in the Western Conference standings and one point behind sixth-place Detroit as the season winds down. Phoenix is in fourth place in the Western Conference, one point behind third-place Vancouver.
