Luca Robinson And Hart Boys Basketball Looking Forward To Revenge Week

The Hart Indians have won three straight league games to get to 6-2 going into the final week of the regular season. An outright Foothill League title and guaranteed home game in the CIF-SS Division 2AA playoffs is the prize at the week.

It’s been a streaky league season for the Hart Indians. A hot start with three consecutive wins to open league play, followed by a two-game skid, sandwiched between another three game winning streak.

At 6-2 (17-7 overall), the Indians can clinch the Foothill League title outright with two more wins to close out the regular season. To do it, they’ll need to take down the only two teams to defeat them this season in league.

“Physically, I think we’re at the peak of [the] season right now. I think we’re playing great basketball. Mentally and emotionally, I think we need to come out and try and hone in on what we really need to do,” said Luca Robinson after last Friday’s win over Canyon.

Robinson, who led the Indians with 19 points in their 71-46 win Friday night, has elevated his game in the second half of the Foothill League season. He’s also a Hart player with some added motivation in tonight’s matchup with West Ranch.

“West Ranch and Saugus, they have really great crowds–great student sections, and they have really good records as well … West Ranch is my old school. I transferred from there, but I really want to just come out and show them that we’re a great school and a great team.”

The Wildcats student section certainly let Luca Robinson know he had become the enemy in the pair’s first meeting at West Ranch a couple of weeks ago. Chants of “traitor” emanated from the section. Robinson gave a playful smirk or two at the attention.

“Sometimes it’s fun, but at a point it’s not fun, because you’re seeing a bunch of people you used to go to school with, be friends with and then they’re telling you how bad of a player you are.”

“I remember I used to go to school with you only a year ago,” Robinson added.

A win against West Ranch would essentially set up a Foothill League championship game at Saugus on Friday.

“Last year we got a win at Saugus, so that’s just the important thing that we come out and do.”

A focused and refreshed Indians team should come to play this week, and it starts against West Ranch tonight. Tip-off is at 6:30.
