Hart Boys Basketball Team Needs OT Against Culver City To Stay Undefeated

The Hart boys basketball team was pushed to the limits against Culver City, but won, 82-78 in overtime.

The Indians won their 10th game in a row and remained undefeated to start the season.

Lewis Stallworth led Hart in scoring with 17 points and Myles Franklin added 15 on a poor shooting night for both players. Stallworth was 6-for-16 from the field and Franklin made only 5 of 13 shots.

The West Ranch boys basketball team beat Cleveland, 68-43, in the St. Hope Elite Classic in Sacramento. Ako Kaluna had 21 points and 16 rebounds for West Ranch. Four Wildcats scored in double figures.

The Saugus girls beat Beverly Hills, 56-48, behind a 14-point night from Faye Osburn. McKayla Cook scored 10 points and the Centurions won their seventh game of the season.

The Valencia girls beat Kennedy, 61-29, and won their seventh game of the season. Kalia Summerlin scored 15 points for Valencia.

The Hart girls lost to Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, 61-34. Julia White led Hart with 10 points.

In high school soccer, the Valencia girls shut out Viewpoint, 3-0, in the Camino Classic tournament.

Becca Harrison, Taylor Venegas and Bailey Reed each scored a goal for the Vikings.

The Hart girls soccer team tied Granada Hills, 0-0, in the Camino Cup tournament. The Indians took 19 shots, but couldn’t score against the Highlanders.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls played to a scoreless draw against Vasquez at The Master’s College.

Freshman goalkeeper Lacey Lehman recorded the shutout for Santa Clarita Christian.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys soccer team lost to Vasquez, 2-0.

In high school football, West Ranch has a new coach. Jan Miller has been promoted from junior varsity to the varsity job. He is the third head coach for the West Ranch football team.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the visiting New Orleans Hornets soundly, 93-77, and won a franchise record 11th game in a row.

Blake Griffin scored 18 points, Jamal Crawford added 17 off the bench and Chris Paul had 10 points and 12 assists for the Clippers.
