Hart Boys Basketball Team Rolls To 3-0 Start

The Hart boys basketball team improved to 3-0 with an 88-67 win over Flintridge Prep in the Crescenta Valley Tournament.

Lewis Stallworth scored 26 points and Myles Franklin added 19 points and 11 assists for Hart. Four players scored in double figures for the Indians.

Hart plays Westlake next in the tournament on Thursday.

The Trinity boys basketball team lost to Oakwood, 56-53. It was the first loss of the season for Trinity.

Ian Caddow scored 22 points, 14 in the fourth quarter.

The Saugus girls basketball team beat Calabasas, 48-43. Faye Osburn and McKayla Cook each scored 11 points for the Centurions.

In high school soccer, the Canyon boys played to a 1-1 draw against Chaminade. Rojay Morrison scored on a penalty kick for Canyon’s lone goal.

The West Ranch boys lost to Eastside, 1-0, in the Palmdale Tournament. Eastside, undefeated at 6-0, scored the only goal of the game early in the first half.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team shut out Albert Einstein Academy, 12-0, in the Omega League opener for both teams. Twelve different players scored for Santa Clarita Christian.

In college basketball, The Master’s College men crushed Cal Tech, 91-56. Five players scored in double figures for The Master’s College. Derrick Fain led the way with 22 points.                                        

In baseball, outfielder Shane Victorino, who finished the 2012 season with the Dodgers, signed with the Boston Red Sox for three years and $39 million. Victorino was traded from the Philadelphia Phillies to the Dodgers in July.

He hit .255 with 11 home runs and stole a career-high 39 bases with the Phillies and Dodgers last season.

In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Houston Rockets, 107-105, and blew a 13-point lead with 10 minutes to play in the game.

Kobe Bryant scored 39 points and Dwight Howard had 16 points and 12 rebounds. But Howard was 8-for-16 from the free-throw line.

The Lakers have lost three games in a row and are 8-10 on the season.
