Hart Boys Soccer Team Loses To La Canada, Drops To 8-2-1

The Hart boys soccer team lost to La Canada, 2-1, in a match played at Hart High.

The Indians’ lone goal came when La Canada knocked the ball into its own goal in the 61st minute of the game.

La Canada took a 1-0 lead late in the first half. The Spartans went up 2-0 on a goal in the 46th minute, right after halftime.

Hart, ranked No. 5 in the Southern Section Division IV poll, lost for only the second time this season. The Indians are 8-2-1.

In high school basketball, the West Ranch boys have a tough test against Village Christian tonight. Village Christian won the CIF State Division V championship in Sacramento last season and is ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Division 5AA poll.

West Ranch is 10-3 and third in the Southern Section Division 1A rankings. Tipoff is set for 7 at West Ranch High.

Four teams from the Santa Clarita Valley are playing in a tournament at College of the Canyons on Saturday.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys take on Heritage Christian. The Hart girls face Providence. The Valencia boys play Chatsworth. The Canyon boys end the tournament against Hoover from San Diego.

Games start 12:30.

In college football, the Oregon Ducks beat Kansas State, 35-17, in the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona. Oregon ends the season with a 12-1 record, the lone loss in overtime to Stanford.

In the NBA, the Lakers face the Clippers in the downtown showdown at Staples Center tonight. Both teams are coming off losses.

The Lakers are a game under .500 at 15-16. The Clippers have lost two games in a row after winning a franchise record 17 straight games.
