Hart Boys Volleyball Team Sweeps Highland

khts_sportsThe Hart boys volleyball team handily beat Highland, 3-0, behind 12 kills from Taylor Gregory. J.J. Mosolf had nine kills and Austin Gage had 11 assists.

The Saugus boys volleyball team lost to Granada Hills, 3-1. T.J. Jeffris had 13 kills and Ryan Mason had 39 assists for Saugus.

The Canyon boys volleyball team lost to Burroughs in four games. Curtis Van Grinsven had 14 kills and Preston Richardson had 13 kills for Canyon.

The Hart baseball team lost to Moorpark, 5-1, in the Easton Tournament. Moorpark hit six doubles, a record against Hart, and scored three runs in the third inning. Nolan Simmons drove in Hart’s only run in the sixth inning.

Moorpark starter Luke Swenson scattered four hits in six innings and struck out eight for the win.

In high school track and field, the Canyon boys and girls teams easily beat Burroughs. The boys won, 108-28. Darius Rudolph had a big day for Canyon, winning the 100, 200 and was on the 400 relay team.

The girls won, 88-35. Keeli Howard won the 200 and the 400 for Canyon. Teammate Jessica Gatton won the 800 and the 3,200.

In high school swimming, the Golden Valley boys beat Littlerock, 117-49. The Golden Valley girls beat Littlerock, 91-75.

In high school tennis, it looks like the Valencia boys finally met their match, losing to Harvard-Westlake, 12-6. Valencia won a pair of challenging matches earlier in the week, beating Eagle Rock and Thousand Oaks.

In college softball, the College of the Canyons shut out LA Valley College, 10-0. Sarah Biggs tossed a one-hitter and Carissa Hartwig and Noel Luongo each had two hits and drove in three runs for COC.

The College of the Canyons ice hockey team is one win away from the American Collegiate Hockey Association national semifinals.
COC beat the University of Florida, 8-3, and Robert Morris University, 7-4 and will play Saginaw Valley State, the reigning national champions, today for a spot in the seimfinals.

In youth soccer, the AYSO Region 678 U12 girls all-star team won the Section 10 championship in Bakersfield by beating Tri-Community, 2-0. The Region 678 U12 girls return to Bakersfield on March 28 for the state championship.

In college basketball, UCLA beat Arizona, 75-69, in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 tournament at Staples Center. Reeves Neslon scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds for UCLA.

In other Pac-10 tournament games, California beat Oregon, 90-74, Stanford beat Arizona State, 70-61, and Washington beat Oregon State, 59-52.

In hockey, the Kings are in Dallas for a game against the Stars tonight. The Kings have won four straight against the Stars, but have struggled in their last four games. The Kings have won only once in their last four games and are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Pregame starts at 5 on AM 1220, KHTS.
