Hart, Canyon Boys Soccer Team Play For Foothill League Championship

khts_sportsThe Hart and Canyon boys soccer teams will battle for the Foothill League championship today.

Hart leads the Foothill League standings with a 6-1-2 record. Canyon is one point out of first place, at 6-2-1. The two teams meet this afternoon at Hart High School in the Foothill League finale.

The West Ranch boys can secure third place in league against Valencia. The Saugus boys are at Golden Valley.

On the girls side, Saugus can wrap up the Foothill League championship with a win over last place Golden Valley.

Hart still has a shot at the league title, one point back of Saugus. But the Indians need help, an upset by Golden Valley over Saugus and at least a tie against Canyon in the Foothill League finale today.

The Valencia girls play at West Ranch.

She was second in the floor at the 2011 Level 10 state meet. She finished in sixth in the vault at the Level 10 regional meet last year.

Golden Valley’s Lauren Berumdez will continue her soccer career in college at Idaho State. She was one of two athletes from Golden Valley who committed to college last week.

Alec Schlossman will play for the Harvard men’s volleyball team next season. He is the first student from Golden Valley to be accepted by Harvard.

In high school basketball, the Santa Clarita Christian boys are on the road against Milken and the Trinity Classical Academy boys travel to Hillcrest Christian.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
