Hart, Chaminade Playing In Their First CIF Football Bowl Game

The Hart football team is playing in its first CIF State bowl game. So is Chaminade.

Hart has a little bit of history on its side. The Indians won their ninth CIF championship in the Southern Section Northern Division final against Valencia.

Chaminade is ranked No. 5 in the state in the most recent poll released by CalHi Sports.

But Hart beat Chaminade, 55-54 in overtime, in the second week of the season.

The two teams meet again on Saturday night at College of the Canyons in the CIF South Division II bowl game brought to you by Action Family Counseling. The game will stream live on hometownstation.com. Follow all the game-time action on the high school football app also available on the hometownstation.com website.

Kickoff is at 7:30 on Saturday night.

Master’s College Sports

In college soccer, The Master’s College women were ranked 18th in the NAIA in the coaches postseason national poll.

The Lady Mustangs reached the NAIA national tournament, but lost in the opening round, 1-0, to Cal State San Marcos. The Master’s College women had a 15-6 record, the second best in program history.

In college volleyball, The Master’s College women were ranked No. 6 in the final NAIA national poll. The Lady Mustangs reached the quarterfinals of the NAIA national tournament in Iowa and went 3-0 in pool play at the tournament.

The Lady Mustangs moved up 10 spots in the final NAIA poll. They had a 23-9 record.

Sam Dougherty from The Master’s College was selected to the NAIA All America team. She led the Lady Mustangs with 513 kills and 364 digs. She was also selected to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship All-Tournament team.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women are ranked No. 12 in the NAIA national poll. The Lady Mustangs are off to a 6-3 start and are coming off an 88-72 win over UC Merced. They play Bethesda tonight.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Boston Celtics, 96-88, in coach Doc Rivers’ return to Beantown. Next up for the Clippers are the Brooklyn Nets tonight.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-1, and won their fifth game in a row. Jeff Carter scored the go-ahead goal in the third period.

The Kings are off to Ottawa for a game against the Senators on Saturday.
