Hart Football Team Stomps Birmingham In Lake Balboa

The Hart football team crushed Birmingham, 42-13, behind a five-touchdown game from running back Connor Wingenroth.

He scored four rushing touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass and gained 185 yards on the ground.

Hart, the No. 1 ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division, is undefeated at 4-0.

The Canyon football team lost its first game of the season, 45-21, to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

Liam Cabrera caught two touchdowns in the loss for Canyon. The Cowboys came into the game as the No. 2 ranked team in the Northern Division.

The Valencia football team beat Santa Monica, 42-21. Vikings quarterback Jake Wallace threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns.

The West Ranch football team beat Oxnard, 7-3, in a defensive battle.

Christian Parrish scored the winning touchdown for West Ranch on a 43-yard catch in the third quarter.

The Albert Einstein Academy football team lost to Santa Paula, 54-6. Josh Greaves scored the only touchdown for Einstein in the fourth quarter.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team beat Sun Valley, 56-7. Derek Lewis scored four touchdowns and rushed for 157 yards.

The Trinity Classical Academy football team beat Kings Christian, 50-12. Spencer Klehn scored three touchdowns for Trinity.

The College of the Canyons football team beat Pasadena City College, 54-10, in the National Division Northern Conference opener.

COC has won three games in a row.

In the NCAA, Lane Kiffin, the USC football coach, was fired after the Trojans lost to Arizona State.

In auto racing, Brian Richardson won the NASCAR Citgo Late Model race at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield. It was his second Late Model win at the track.

Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race in Albuquerque, N.M.

It was the fourth win of the season for Purlsey.

In baseball, the Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies, 2-1, in the final game of the regular season.

But the Dodgers learned after the game that Matt Kemp will not be able to play in the postseason. He has an injured ankle that will prevent him from playing baseball. He left Dodger Stadium on crutches after the game against the Rockies.

The Dodgers are the National League West champions and will open the playoffs against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday.
