The Hart girls golf team set a Foothill League record at Encino Golf Course on Tuesday. Three girls shot under par and the team was 3-over par in the nine-hole league meet, the first of the season.
Brenna Carlson led the way with a 3-under par 34. Kendall Dusenberry shot 2-under, and Nikki Prichard came in at 1-under par.
The Hart team score of 188 is a league record for a nine-hole contest. Hart won the meet by 38 strokes. Saugus was second with a team score of 226.
The Saugus girls volleyball team swept Notre Dame in three games. Jaclyn Clark had 18 kills and 12 digs for Saugus, a perfect 3-0 to start the season.
The Hart girls volleyball team was swept by La Canada, the top ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 2A poll.
Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer will speaking about his experiences in sports and his experiences in life at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Canyon Country on Sunday. The event is free and is scheduled to start at 4:30.
In club ice hockey, the Valencia Flyers beat the Arizona Redhawks, 8-1, on Saturday. John Dove and David Tagvoryan each had a hat trick. Next up for the Flyers is the Fresno Monsters at the Ice Station on Saturday night. Game time is at 7:45.
