CIF Southern Section boys basketball playoffs begin tonight.
The CIF Southern Section girls soccer playoffs began Tuesday with Hart losing to El Dorado in the wild card round of the Division II playoffs. Hart and El Dorado played to a scoreless tie in regulation, but the Indians lost 3-1 on penalty kicks.
It will be a busy night for the boys basketball teams from the Foothill League. All six teams are in the playoffs, which begin tonight.
Golden Valley, Hart and Valencia have home games in the first round. Saugus, Canyon and West Ranch are on the road.
Golden Valley, the fourth-seeded team in Division III-A and the Foothill League champions, plays Beaumont, the fourth-place team from the Mountain Pass League. Hart, the eighth-seeded team in the Division III-AA playoffs, plays South Torrance, an at-large team from the Pioneer League. Valencia, the seventh-seeded team in Division II-AA, plays Troy, an at-large team from the Freeway League.
Saugus plays La Mirada, the second-seeded team in the Division II-A playoffs and the champions of the Suburban League. Canyon plays Thousand Oaks, the top-seeded team in Division II-AA and the winners of the Mamonte League. West Ranch, the 10th seeded team in Division II-AA, plays Serrano, the third-place team from the Mojave League.
All games are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
In boys soccer, West Ranch hosts Cabrillo of Lompoc, the fourth-place team from the Los Padres League and Golden Valley travels to Lompoc to face the third-place team from the Los Padres League.
Both games are scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
