Hart Girls Soccer Team Rallies To Shut Out Alemany

khts_sportsFor the Hart girls soccer team, it was better late than never.

The Hart girls scored three goals in the second half and shut out visiting Alemany, 3-0. Laura Sega scored the first goal for Hart off a deflection on a throw-in from Destinney Duron.

Jenny Chavez made it 2-0 with a header off another throw-in from Duron.

Kelsey Steck scored the third goal for Hart with eight minutes to play in the game.

In high school basketball, the Trinity Classical Academy boys finished in third place in the Avalon Tournament on Catalina Island with a 46-38 win over Oakwood.

James Brooks scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds. He was selected to the all-tournament team.

In college basketball, the College of the Canyons women lost, 68-58, to Ventura, the top-ranked team in the state.

Amanda Ajdari scored 20 points to lead COC, the 16th-ranked team in the state. Bev Weaver scored 18 points.

In the NBA, the Clippers made it two in a row over the Lakers behind a big night from Blake Griffin. He scored 30 points in the Clippers, 108-103, in the final exhibition game of the season for both teams.

Kobe Bryant sat out the game with an injured wrist. His status for the season opener against the Bulls on Christmas Day is still uncertain.

Both teams open the season on Sunday.

The Kings start the Darryl Sutter era at home against the Ducks tonight.

Sutter is the new head coach of the Kings. He takes over a team that has lost six of its last eight games and hasn’t scored more than two goals in a game in nearly a month.

The Ducks aren’t playing much better. They have lost three games in a row and five of their last six.
