Hart High Grad Prepares For Pac-10 Swim Championships

Hart High graduate Rachel Krager is back in Southern California for the Pac-10 women’s swimming championships at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach.

The sophomore at Washington State is competing in three events in the Pac-10 championships. Her first race is today in the 500 freestyle.

“Last year in the 500, that’s what really kicked it off for me,” Krager said. “I feel real good about it this meet.”

Krager will race in the 100 butterfly on Friday and finish up in the mile and 200 butterfly on Saturday. Krager is competing in the 100 butterfly as an exhibtion. She said the mile will be her best event.

Krager said she is enjoying swimming for Washington State.

“The coaching staff is really supportive,” Krager said. “I felt like I fit in. The fact that it’s the Pac-10, we’re constantly trying to better ourselves.”

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
