Hart Meets Westlake, Ranked No. 1 In State, In CIF Football Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Hart High football team pulled off a bit of a stunner in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Northern Division playoffs.

Now Hart gets to play the No. 1 ranked team in the state.

Hart plays top-seeded and undefeated Westlake in the quarterfinals of the Northern Division playoffs at College of the Canyons tonight.

Hart beat Palos Verdes, 15-14, to advance out of the first round of the playoffs.

Westlake is 11-0 and coming off an impressive, 59-12, win over Eastside in the first round. It could be a long night for the Indians.

Canyon is on the road for the quarterfinals of the Northern Division football playoffs against St. Bonaventure.

Canyon and St. Bonaventure met in last year’s Northern Division quarterfinals. The Cowboys lost, 45-21.

Canyon is coming off a convincing, 21-0, shutout over Palmdale in the first round.

St. Bonaventure is coming off a shaky, 19-10, win over Redondo in the first round. This one should be an interesting match-up.

The Trinity Classical Academy football team is in the semifinals of the Southern Section Division II 8-man playoffs. The Knights are on the road and take on second-seeded Cuyama Valley tonight.

Keep up with all the high school football playoff action tonight on AM 1220, KHTS. Games are set to start at 7.

In college basketball, the College of the Canyons women’s team begins play in the Kiwanis Ventura Tournament tonight. COC is 1-2 after three games, all in the Mt. SAC Tip-Off.

The COC women opened with a win over Mira Costa, then lost their next two games.
