Hart Pitcher Throws One-Hitter

Indians shut out Golden Valley in Foothill League game.

The Hart baseball team came within one out of no-hitting Golden Valley yesterday. Trevor Brown had two outs in the seventh inning before giving up a single to Rocky Sherwood, Golden Valley’s first and only hit of the game. Spencer Souza hit a three-run home run to lift Hart to a 5-0 win over Golden Valley.

In other Foothill League baseball games, Valencia’s Christian Lopes hit a grand slam and lifted his team to a 10-4 win over Canyon. Chris Low drove in two runs and Isaac Flemming was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Canyon. Saugus slammed West Ranch, 15-3.

In high school softball, Canyon’s Ciana Rego drove in all three of her team’s runs in a 3-1 win over West Ranch.

The Valencia boys and girls swim teams posted wins over Saugus. The boys, led by Bryan Kitchener, won 122-48. The girls, on the strength of Micaela Velasquez, won 118-52.
The Canyon girls swim team beat West Ranch, 119-51.

In high school golf, Colin Wheeler led West Ranch with a 1-under par 71 at the TPC at Valencia in a 19-stroke win over Oak Park.

In high school volleyball, the West Ranch boys beat Paraclete in five games.
