Hart Softball Team Loses In CIF Semifinals

The Hart softball team lost to Norco, 2-0, in the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division I playoffs. After throwing three straight shutouts in playoffs, Hart pitcher Destiny Rodino finally met her match. Norco scored the first runs off Rodino since May 12, when she gave up two runs and lost to Valencia.

Rodino held Norco scoreless for four innings before giving up two runs in the fifth. Hart rallied in the seventh inning, but catcher Jessica Shults was thrown out at the plate to end the game.

In high school golf, the weather forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies and breezy conditions in Murrieta for the Southern California Golf Association/CIF tournament today. J.J. Holen from West Ranch, the only player from the Foothill League in the tournament, tees off at 8 this morning. It will be cold and cloudy when he starts and should heat up to about 80 degrees this afternoon.

In college baseball, Trevor Bloom, a sophomore rightfielder at College of the Canyons, earned Southern California All-America honors after hitting .378 for the Cougars last season.

COC teammates Trevor McDonald and Matt Warr were All-Southern California selections. McDonald, a Valencia High graduate, was 9-0 for COC and recorded the only win for his team in playoffs. Warr, COC’s third baseman, hit eight home runs and had a .316 batting average for the Cougars this season.
