You're never too old to make toffee.

Hart High School had an incredible football season in 2007, going undefeated and making it to the Division Finals. Much of that credit is to be given to the arm of BR Holbrook and the hands and legs of his favorite receiver Dustin Diamond.  This tandem brings back fond memories of former Hart QB and current NFL Pro, Kyle Boller and his favorite receiver Jerry Owens.

In high school, Jerry was named to numerous All-American teams and was a highly regarded prospect.  He attended UCLA as a wide-receiver, but after some soul-searching he found his way to baseball and the Master’s College. 

In September 27, 2006 he started his first major league game and collected his first major league hit and stolen base.  Now he’s just finished his first entire season with the Chicago White Sox as a centerfielder.

Jerry credits the Santa Clarita Valley with providing him a great place to grow-up.  “It’s a blessing to have been able to grow up in a community like this.  It’s safe and friendly, a great place to live.”  And the bright lights of the national pastime haven’t changed him much.  When he comes home, his mom puts him to work at her family owned business, World’s Best Toffee, here in Santa Clarita.

For a hometown hero from the hometown station, we may not root for the Sox but we’re rooting for Jerry Owens.
