Wrapping up the weekend’s local football action, the defending state champion, Canyon Cowboys, opened the season with a hard fought loss to highly ranked Notre Dame 17 to 7.

Our other local high school teams fared much better.  Hart gained some revenge over Moorpark, who beat them twice last year, with a 28 to 14 win.

Saugus defeated Antelope Valley 48 to 21, as the duo of Desi Rodriquez and Ryan Zirbel combined for six touchdowns.

Valencia beat Palmdale 27 to 20, behind Nick Hale’s two touchdowns and 183 total yards.

West Ranch played well on both sides of the ball to convincingly beat Lancaster 35 to 18.

ImageAnd the Golden Valley Grizzlies earned their first win in two years as they routed the Hoover Tornadoes 42 to 7.  Quarterback, Najee Coleman threw five touchdown passes.

Also, the Cardinals of Santa Clarita Christian, behind all-everything Collin Keoshian, defeated Trona 17-16.

In local college football action, the Cougars of COC were beaten by Fullerton College, 32-31 to even their season record at 1 -1.

In Baseball, the Lancaster Jethawks were beaten by the Lake Elsinore Storm in game two of their best of five playoff series.  The series is tied at 1 and resumes tonight in Lake Elsinore.

The Dodgers were beaten 4 to 2 by the San Francisco Giants. After an off day today, they return home to open a very important 3 game series against the San Diego Padres Tuesday night.  KHTS will bring you all of the action with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10, preceded by the pre-game show at 6:30.
